As The Threaded Man I always preach that a man is not only stylish because of what he wears, but he’s also Threaded in how he spends his time. I am very particular when it comes to how and where I spend my time, and this weekend I have found something I’m really excited to attend: The Sanlam Handmade Contemporary Fair.

It’s a boutique lifestyle event celebrating the best in local food, wine and design, and it’s taking place from the 9 to 11 October, on the rooftop of Hyde Park Corner.

This is the 6th year the fair has taken place and a record 120 exhibitors will be showcased. Mia Widlake, co-owner of Studio19, has been selected as this year’s featured designer, to give the Fair a brand-new aesthetic and feel. The Fair will also provide fine food through Chefs in the City, which comprised of three top South African chefs. But that’s not all, as there will also be a Champagne and charcuterie bar experience run by Black Elephant Vintners and Richard Bosman.

It’s the first time I’m attending this event, and I’m really looking forward to seeing the milliners of Simon & Mary Hats, as well as the Hope on Hopkins team, who make some of the finest gin in the world.

The opening hours of the Fair are:

  • Friday 9 October: 12h00 – 22h00
  • Saturday 10 October: 10h00 – 21h00
  • Sunday 11 October: 10h00 – 16h00

If you had no plans this weekend gents, now you do! To stand a chance to win two tickets, tell us who your favourite designer is and why. Those who don’t win tickets can still attend – the price is R110 at the door.
