Men’s Fashion Season continues and ahead of SA Menswear Week, we look back at our favourite shows from the world’s fashion Capital. Out of all the men’s shows our favourites took place in Paris , here are our top 3 shows.
Creative Director Olivier Rousting is never shy to go bold, and this collection proved just that. With his first menswear show, Olivier explored the concept of the Balmain man being an explorer and adventurer. We saw boots become sandals and drill combat pants were transformed into drop crotch shorts with suspenders.
Tisci’s brilliance as a designers is engraved in his knowledge of history and cultural referencing in his collections. SS16 is all about imprisonment and paying homage to the most well known prisoner of all time, Jesus. Models walked down the runway with big keys around their necks and pictures of Jesus on the cross on their shirts.
Kim Jones is wonderer of the world and this was evident in his latest offering for Louis Vuitton. We saw the vivid satin souvenir jackets with the embroidered cranes (Japan) and birds of paradise (Indonesia); the red silk Hawaiian shirt with the embroidered monkeys (China); the blouson with an embroidered stripe from a Southeast Asian hill tribe that, though ancient, looked utterly contemporary.
