Streetwear label Off-White made its debut showcase as one of the special guests at international men’s trade show, Pitti Uomo in Florence, Italy. The brand presented its Spring 2018 men’s collection and parts of the Resort 2018 women’s collection at Pitti Palace on Thursday, 15 June.
The brand’s founder, Virgil Abloh who is the son of a Ghanaian immigrant, collaborated with American neo-conceptual artist, Jenny Holzer, who curated the poetry which was projected on the Piazza wall in an effort to shed a light on the refugee crisis. The theme was also directly translated into the collection with inflatable vests and the elaborate use of orange, the colour of emergency life vests. With this showcase, the designer managed to merge the sartorial with the political.
