South Africa’s first premier denim and lifestyle brand was founded by Durban designer Zak Venter. The brand offers locally made denim, as well as other luxe basics such as knits, jackets and footwear.

MaXhosa by Laduma


This brand is driven by the South African Xhosa culture but first started out by making African luxe knits. Since moving to London, Laduma has grown the brand which now, in addition to knits, also creates socks, shorts and knit golfers.

Simon and Mary


This celebrated local hat maker has really taken the hat game to new heights throughout Africa. Using the traditional hat style, Simon and Mary incorporate colours to make the hats more modern. The brand also collaborates with local creatives, from designers to bloggers. Watch out for their collaboration with Trevor Stuurman & Nelson Makamo which launches later this year.

Based in Cape Town, this brand has become a key part of the South African street culture. Simon Deporres prides itself in making classic quality basic pieces that every man needs in his wardrobe. The brand received international attention after Mos Def made it his go-to store while living in Cape Town.
