Few things make a man look as sharp, as when he’s wearing a suit. You look good, you feel good and you stand out from the crowd. We’re huge fans of the fitted suit, but we know it can be tricky to figure out how to wear it in winter. After countless queries from Threaded Man readers, we’ve enlisted help from Tommy Hilfiger to give you our top three suit rules for winter.
Knit, Knit, Knit
Knits – like turtlenecks and light knits – work really well with suits. The bonus of pairing a suit with a knit, is that you’re actually wearing two outfits; the second one revealed when you remove your blazer. For this reason it’s important to choose your knit well because it will be seen!
The Right Colours
When it comes to colour – there are right and wrong choices – depending on the time of year. For winter suits, don’t immediately choose the darkest option, but stay away from bright colours. The seasonal colours that we love are grey, olive, blue, oxblood and nude.
Boots and Sneakers
Winter is when you need to wear boots and sneakers to keep you warm. Choose boots for those heavy, rainy days – in particular leather boots as they are waterproof and easy to maintain. For a more casual look you should wear a pair of white sneakers such as Stan Smiths.
These are three simply but effective ways to help you craft your winter suit look.
