Esteemed designer Gavin Rajah, opened Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week Johannesburg (#MBFWJ17) with a dreamy production: roses, smoke mimicking mist, and low hanging floral chandeliers covering the length of the runway. The standout aspect of the make-up was the dramatic blush reminiscent of Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons showcases.

It started off on a romantic and sophisticated note with flowy dresses punctuated by bikinis then it became young and trendy with bell sleeve shirts and ruffle skirts. From floral embroidery, to impeccably cut high slits and low plunging necklines, the designer showed off his craftsmanship and gave us a wide offering of resort, ready-to-wear and glamorous pieces – albeit all over the place and sometimes over-designed.
